Voss
The region is home to around 15.000 people and has a prime location between Bergen, the Sognefjord and the Hardangerfjord.
Voss is known for their extreme sports activities. The village Voss welcomes you with snow-capped mountains, lush valleys, wild rivers and waterfalls, and calm lakes. If you’re an adrenalin-junkie, this is the place to visit. Challenge the rapids of one of Europe’s best rafting rivers, jump out of a plane (with a parachute, of course) or soar above the landscape in a paraglider.
The two ski resorts Myrkdalen Fjellandsby and Voss Resort make Voss one of the best ski destinations in Fjord Norway during winter. The rest of the year, the varied landscape is ideal for hiking, climbing, kayaking, biking and so much more.
The region has tasty food traditions, and even Gordon Ramsay has visited Voss – to try the traditional local dish smalahove (sheep’s head). You can taste this specialty in the farmhouse Smalahovetunet. On the menu, you’ll also find cured meat, salted and dried ribs of mutton, and sour cream porridge.
