Sandnes

Sandnes kommune is located in the Rogaland region and is placed 15 km. south of Stavanger.

The area is characterized by the beautiful nature with small mountains and lakes, which makes Sandnes a great place for cycling, kayaking, hiking and climbing.

The city was often referred to as the bicycle city of Norway since in the past bicycle production was the main activity in the city's economy, in addition to milling and brickwork. There are some great routes to enjoy bike riding. At the tourist office, it´s possible to rent bicycles for free from May to October.

Since then the city has been known their production of textiles, while now it´s mostly the oil production that makes the city´s economy.
