Stavsro/Gaustatoppen

Stavsro/Gaustatoppen

Stavsro is located in Tuddal, between Bergen and Oslo, and is placed 1100 meters above sea level.

Stavsro is best known for being the entrance to Gaustatoppen, which is considered as one of the most beautiful viewpoints. From the top of the mountain, which is 1883 meters above sea level, it´s possible to see one sixth of Norway´s terrain. Each year, thousands of hikers are visiting the Telemarks highest mountain. What´s special about Gaustatoppen is that everyone can find their way to the top and experience the beautiful view. This is possible, because the area has been involved in military activity, why NATO in 1959 build a cabel car to the top, which makes it easy for visitors to reach the top by the train inside the mountain.

Gaustatoppen is placed above Rjukan, which with it´s industrial history is a part of The Unesco World Heritage list.
