It has also been a fantastic arena for developing new talent. Several of Norway\u2019s leading riders have showcased their abilities and grown through Tour of Norway,\u201d says Roy Hegreberg, General Manager of Tour of Norway.<\/p>\n<p>After the government\u2019s unexpected funding cut, there is no longer a financial basis to continue work on next year\u2019s event. The board of Fjords Cycling, the organization behind Tour of Norway, has therefore decided to halt all planning. Fjords Cycling is 100% owned by volunteer cycling clubs and does not have the capital or financial c apacity to sustain the event on its own.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI respect that the parliamentary majority sets its priorities, but I wish there had been communication in advance. This was a big surprise, and there has been little willingness to engage in dialogue with us,\u201d Hegreberg says.<\/p>\n<p>Tour of Norway has always been built and operated by and for the sport \u2013 owned by local cycling clubs, rooted in the Norwegian sports model, and with everything reinvested into making the race the best it can be. We have worked purposefully to strengthen gender equality in cycling and have delivered Scandinavia\u2019s only top-level stage race for both women and men.<\/p>\n<p>A decade-long partnership between the public sector, private sector, and volunteers now disappears without warning. With it, the positive impact the race has created for both the sport and local communities is lost.<\/p>\n<p>To our 150\u2013200 volunteers, and everyone who contributes to Tour of Norway year after year: thank you. The race exists because of you, and we are truly sorry that we cannot welcome you back in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>To the teams that continue to show interest and return every year: we are deeply grateful.
