Next week marks a historic milestone in Norwegian cycling: the very first edition of the Women’s Tour of Norway. A total of 17 teams will line up at the start, featuring a mix of top international squads, hungry Continental teams, and prominent Norwegian riders who are sure to make an impact. With both global stars and emerging talent, everything is set for a fast-paced and exciting two-day race on Norwegian soil.
Uno-X Mobility will field an all-Norwegian team, led by Ingvild Gåskjenn and Susanne Andersen. Joining them is current Norwegian champion Mie Bjørndal Ottestad, who will no doubt aim for a top result.
Norway will also be represented by the Continental team Team Coop – Repsol and an aggressive national team, which includes European track champion Anita Yvonne Stenberg, ready to showcase her strength on the road.
WorldTour teams such as UAE Team ADQ, Visma | Lease a Bike, and AG Insurance – Soudal Team bring some of the sport’s biggest names to the start. South African Ashleigh Moolman Pasio and Belgian Justine Ghekiere represent AG Insurance, with the experience and strength to challenge for the overall.
At UAE, riders like Sofia Bertizzolo and Federica Venturelli bring solid international results to the table. Visma | Lease a Bike presents an exciting mix of youth and experience, including French rider Margaux Vigié, who recently secured a strong podium finish on Stage 1 of the WorldTour race Itzulia Women.
Among the ProTeam squads are VolkerWessels and French outfit Arkéa – B&B Hotels Women, which includes Swedish veteran Emilia Fahlin, a rider with years of experience at the top level of international cycling.
The start list also features Continental teams from Germany, the UK, Ireland, and Italy, such as DAS-Hutchinson and BePink – Imatra – Bongionnai, with young riders from around the world. It’s also worth noting that some Norwegian riders are scattered across international teams – including Frøya Knox (CJ O’Shea Racing Team) and Nora Tveit (DAS-Hutchinson).
With so many teams and nations represented, we’re set for two intense days on Norwegian roads, where new heroes on two wheels will emerge.
The Women’s Tour of Norway is finally a reality and we can’t wait for the action to begin!
