History will be written when Tour of Norway welcomes some of the world’s best female cyclists to Jørpeland for Stage 1 of the women’s race.
With 1,800 meters of elevation over just 96 kilometers, there’s no doubt this will be a demanding stage.
From the start in Jørpeland, the race heads to Solbakk, climbs Heia, continues to Bjørheimsbygda, and then follows the road along Lake Tysdalsvatnet. The route then enters Ullestad, moves into Årdal, and returns via Tjentland. Riders will follow the same road back along Tysdalsvatnet and Bjørheimsvatnet, passing through Tau and Solbakk – before finishing atop Heia.
As in the men’s race, the climb is 2.2 kilometers at an average gradient of 7.7%, and will likely separate the contenders from the pretenders in the general classification battle.
Can our Norwegian hopes take on the international stars? Everything is set for an epic showdown on the slopes of Heia!
